June 2006
Dear Friends,
In March of 2002 I took a trip to Cambodia to encourage Pastor Chheng Nuon and the Church of Mercy Mission. During our week-long stay the Lord moved me for Cambodia in a profound way and gave me a heart for the Cambodian people. They were hungry for the message of God’s grace and I wanted to be a part of sharing it with them. Upon my return the Lord pulled on my heart to move to Cambodia to work as a helper to Pastor Chheng and the church planting mission.

I have since been able to take two additional trips to Cambodia, one being a three-week trip with my wife Jennifer. During each visit I was inspired by the Cambodian believers’ faith in the Lord and their desire to cast all away and follow Him for His name’s sake. Each visit the Lord further impressed upon me the open door for the Gospel in Cambodia and the tremendous need to send out laborers into the harvest field (Luke 10:2).
Finally, during my most recent trip I had the opportunity to visit the Discipleship Training School Chheng started for the training of biblically sound Christians and future church leaders. I was amazed to see the hunger and diligence in the students as they studied the Bible and the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith. Seeing the school first-hand made me realize the profound impact it could have as one of the only schools teaching God’s sovereign grace and mercy in Cambodia.
Through much thought and prayer, the Lord has led my wife and me to move to Cambodia to assist Chheng with the school and to help spread the Gospel in Cambodia. We are convinced the Lord has opened a door for effective ministry in an area of the world which is almost entirely closed to the Gospel. We desire to make the most of this time, for “behold, now is the day of salvation” (2 Cor. 2:6).
May God bless you and may He keep you,
Bill Hale

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
I John 3:1-3
